Something a little different today.
I had a conversation today with someone who expressed their calm confidence and trust in God in the midst of their circumstances. We share some of those circumstances in the upheaval and unknowns of COVID-19, but some of the circumstances of that life are uniquely their own burdens.
I was encouraged by their resolute confidence. It’s the kind of confidence and courage we can all have. Courage that a child has when their parent holds their hand. Confidence a trapeze-artist has operating with a safety net. We can have confidence and courage because our God – who loves us and who has power and authority above all – is with us and ‘holds our hand’.
So… today – a poem / song shared with me by that person I talked with.
“My times are in Thy hand:”
My God, I wish them there;
My life, my friends, my soul–I leave
Entirely to Thy care.
“My times are in Thy hand,”
Whatever they may be;
Pleasing, or painful, dark or bright,
As best may seem to Thee.
“My times are in Thy hand;”
Why should I doubt or fear?
My Father’s hand will never cause
His child a needless tear.
“My time are in Thy hand,”
Jesus, the crucified!
The hand my cruel sins had pierced,
Is now my guard and guide.
